I'm not very good a sharing bad news. I'm actually without words at the moment. Shocked, devastated, angry, sad -- and everything else that goes along with losing a friend and legendary fellow Kompozer. Today I learned that Brannon (a/k/a The Legendary Texan) has passed away. Brannon, as many of you may know, was an original Kompozer. He was the 9th registered user on the site, joining February 28, 2007 (about a couple of weeks after I turned it on). I did not know him at the time, but he quickly became a powerhouse and a true collaboration leader. When I redesigned the site, I flew him in from Texas to get his advice on the changes. During that visit, we booked a rehearsal space and jammed a few Kompoz songs live. It was a blast. He created some great music, and I will miss him greatly.

+1 on "Unlike" and add "stunned" to "Shocked, devastated, angry, sad". I knew Brannon had not been well lately. I was hoping we would hear more from him - I myself, as I know others, tried to reach out. Having only been here on kompoz 3+ years and a lot of it not entirely active, I have to say that Brannon was a kind and encouraging collaborator when I first joined, which really helped since I had taken such a long layoff from music. I don't have anything else to say. It will take some time to process this.

Brannon, you will be missed. I didn't work a lot with Brannon, but it seemed like everything he wrote had a quality to it that pulled me in as a listener. I was lucky to work on a couple of tunes with him, but luckier still to have had many conversations with him on and off the site. RIP, Skippy - and cue "the music of drama", bro: you're up and over now.

Wow...truly sad news to hear. Never had the opportunity to collaborate with him...but I'm sure it would have been a blast. You never get used to hearing unexpected news like this about a fellow kompozer...no matter who they are. RIP friend :(

A few things I also remember him for: - fluid across many genres - madcap sense of humor - spoke his mind (and not afraid to offend people) Brannon will be missed

I got to know Brannon quite well since 2009, phone calls, emails and kompoz messaging, along with an amazing kompoz encounter in Miami. Brannon was one of the coolest dudes, some may even say; Legendary. RIP Brannon, you will remain Legendary to me.

It was because of Kompoz that Brannon and I became good friends. I joined up in September during the first year of Kompoz. Our first interaction was him sarcastically sending a message about my song Burn and how he really ?liked? the title. Brannon?s song Burn was at the top of the charts on Kompoz for a long time in the early days. I somehow knew he was testing me and called him out. We hit it off instantly and made a lot of music together. I will miss him immensely and am deeply saddened by his passing.

I also met Brannon over your song, BURN. I'm shocked, pissed, soooo sad. I missed opportunities I want back. I dodn't know he was reaching out to me over "Know Clue' again for tracks, 30 days age, until now. AAAARRRGGGHHH. We made some great music brother. You were one of the greats.

Oh my...this is horrible news. Always loved his music. Fresh, distinctive, edgy and fun. He also had a great sense of humor. I once wrote him that he should consider comedy writing, yeah, he was that funny, IMHO. RIP, you will be missed.

It is truely sad that we have lost another soul, if not for the love of music we would never have experienced how unique each and everyone is. I raise a glass to Brannon and send my deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

My favorite community post of his that occurred in the last few years. There is no topping this guy: https://www.kompoz.com/music/community/a/624460 14 minutes ago I realized I had been bored for all of the 27 minutes prior. I spent the next 2 minutes deciding what action I should take to resolve the issue. Those 2 minutes were quite entertaining. The boredom had subsided, but at some point you gotta make a damn decision. If I was really stupid, I might have overlooked that fact that being indecisive was boring and simply further complicated the issue.

Very sad, unexpected, and unwelcome news. We spoke on the phone a few times. He was passionate about Kompoz. We talked about arranging a Kompoz "get together" where a bunch of Kompozers could meet-up for a weekend and play music together, in person. I'm sorry that never happened. Peace, love and prayers, brother.

Brannon was always there to put just the right guitar on a track. So many memories of the songs we did on Kompoz. Thankfully he got to see his work on vinyl before he left us. I know it meant a lot to him as it did to me. RIP brother.

If I'd be able to leave only half as many good memories behind when I go, I'd be happy. Unfortunately we never collaborated, and we probably never would, if he was still with us, as he was so many levels above me. But I really liked what he did. He will be missed.
