Life on a planet groove is probably the best funk show ever recorded (it goes on 3 nights i think) It feature my favourite drummer : Kenwood Dennard And the best drum solo ever recorded too , i never understand why all the time when the drum solo comes ,all the musicians stop and the drummer often plays something totally unrelated to the song This is not the case here , the end of the solo is probably , again , the best eargasm ever recorded (it's the first song ) Listen to the whole album , u'll thank me later

meaning its a great album to study and learn from, the syncopation sounded incredible between the drums and sax, surprisingly so, that's as far as I made it so far, i don't have the time at the moment to continue listening.

I played 2 nights in a band with Maceo between his European tours back in the 90's. (I live 30 minutes from Maceo's hometown.) I believe he could be the funkiest man alive today. Sure knows how to create a groove.

Must have been something Did he got the full band?

MDK   commented 5mo+3dy ago

No, he was playing with a local band. They called me to join their band because Maceo was getting ready to go back on tour. Imagine that... they wanted me to replace Maceo.

Maybe, but I declined the offer. They also wanted me to set up and tear down the equipment and run the mixing board.

studying this, looking up all the musicians ....man what a line up of who's who and what they did! I just posted recently a reference to "reaction video's", ....well not hearing this album in full and not being educated by it is a crime similar to those. you can put Candy right there next to Hailey Doc. 8) I made it up to 31:55 so far (feel good) and will resume my study later. Horns man!!!! love horns!!!

If there's one album of classic-JB-funk style This is the one (and Hot Pants with the extended version of Escape-ism) The line up is impressive only Prince managed to get Maceo and Wesley on stage after 2000 Maceo - Fred - Pee Wee = JB horns Yea Candy is babe and man she can play One of the album i most listened in my life Very influential for the teen i was U might even guess where i got this love for rakes 'n' ish Horns are KINGS in funk
