UPDATE: New video with some still shots. -- I refretted my guitar after work today! Took some time but I'm quite happy with the results :) The new frets are nickel free, which for anyone suffering from nickel allergy is an absolutely MUST. I'll post a better edited version one of the upcoming days - hope you enjoy it!

Excellent, Jannik. It brings back memories. Love these kind of videos. I love that little hammer which 'buzzes' the frets right into the correct seated position. Where can I buy one - or do I send my bass to you...LOL

Thanks Rab! :) It's just a standard rubber mallet the buzzing you'll have to do yourself :D If you pay the shipping costs and are OK with me not taking any responsibility for the outcome... Then I'm sure we can find a way! :P

Thanks Doc! :) I was scared to touch it in the past.. But would I trust someone else with the job...? Would also be expensive just in terms of labour. With this I paid 17.80? for the fret wire.. In the past I've paid over 250? to get the job done which is not that unreasonable considering the time it takes.

That was fast! I had a friend of mine re-fret my Ibanez Prestige with stainless frets. It took him about 6 months to complete. I can't complain because he did it for free. He had never done stainless before or a high end guitar. I had an extra neck ( the original ) so I asked him to practice on mine. He did an insanely good job!

you do know, he got it done in a couple of weeks,, then jammed the sht out of your axe for 51/2 months.. sorry to break it to you!

Ha Ha! He actually only had the body for the last month but I'm sure he jammed it a bit. He did tell me that if I ever sale it to contact him and that he would buy it. I highly recommend that if you have an older guitar to re-fret with stainless. That guitar plays better now then it ever did. Silky, silky smooth! Another benefit was that the guitar got that mojo back from the original neck. The replacement neck I had on it for a few years just never sounded the same.

ok this is nutz.. but x yrs ago... I heard there was a computer run lazer machine.. only 7 in the country.. that ran all these algo's then reshaped your frets.. some sht like that.. so i took my guitar in...HELLO did you even do anything.. so i took it to a guy that dropped new frets in... no sure wht metal.. ??? I know it wasnt 14k gold.

Haha! Yeah it was okay from the time! It took a bit longer because the neck is varnished (this is why you see me cutting along the fret with a knife). I also have an Ibanez with stainless steel frets - the frets look now as they did when they were installed :) my supplier didn't have prebowed stainless steel frets so I just took the nickel free ones (stainless steel contains but does not release any nickel).
