Took another fantastic Skookum vocal and lyric and had a real good play with it. Quite different from the original but that's the fun part for me. Tim popped some super guitar down and here we are only just a few days later with our version. The original (check it out) is brilliant and quirky so it was a tough gig to try and change it up! First collaboration is complete. An ode to the disappeared, pre-COVID world of soul destroying, business travel, wrapped up as a nu-americana soundscape that may still be echoing around a dormant Nashville departure gate. Thanks to Patrick for his wonderful Bowie-meets-Johnny Cash lead vocal, to Brian for the amazing drumming and mixing, Hollie for an inventive and elegant piano part and to Philippe for building the foundation with his bass. Many thanks also to to Javier who mixed an alternative and rather wonderful take that I will share below. Much appreciation also to Pete, Erin and Murphy whose contributions didn't make it to the final mix. Here's to new songs and new collaborations! Cheers Niall

Somewhere in a dark cave in the Swiss Alps an old man with long grizzled hair crouches by a small fire. His fingers are still still bleeding but once again he picks up his only possession...a beat up '54 Stratocaster that he found hidden in a monastery when he was six years old. There in the complete silence he begins to play amazing riffs and rhythms...but yet again he hears no sound except for the ringing of dead metal strings against dead pickups echoing throughout the cave...with a puzzled look on his dirty leathered face he leans over to check the frayed cord on his old tweed amp..."yep, looks OK to me". Let's face it. This was Ray's site and the rest of us were all just visiting.
Ray had me do some acoustic drums etc.. This is me banging on my sofa for the bass drum, some shakers and if I remember anything i could get hold of. Popped a few backing vocals down to see what he could do with them. Mixed to perfection as per usual Ray style. R.I.P. my friend.
Sadly I don't have much time to Kompoz these days. Wrote this the other day though. No idea what to do with it. I just quite like the groove. Maybe it's time for me to write another 20 minute progrock masterditty with 30 differnt vocalist. Ah, those were the days :)

it is an honour that two so talented guitar players contribute such great tracks ! Timothy and Frank make this song so very very special

RIP Ray - you made stuff just plain cool. "Easy Money" Ray does the vocal bits. Harpline and Lee Sharp did most of the music, Mike Angelo on harmonica, Mauro on lead and me on rhythm. If I recall, this is Kevin Hartnell on drums.
PRO
Ray! The man with the "MOTTO: I have no clue what I am doing." One in a million. He will be missed. This one, recently written by the great man and to which I had the privilege of adding my small part, may it act as a musical elegy in memoriam.
PLUS
I did not ever have the privilege of collaborating with Ray musically, but we did have a few interesting conversations, and I have always looked up to him as one of the great talents here at Kompoz. I know he was loved and respected here and will be long remembered.
PLUS
With the news about Ray, .. & pointing out the obvious, we have these opportunities to collaborate & make things together, here .. such as what Ray & his friends did here. Quite an example.
PREMIER
I've never had so many interesting conversations with anyone quite like I did with our brother Ray! He had such a great sense of humor and a heart of gold. And singing with him was always a great pleasure! I'm heartbroken beyond belief! May he RIP and his wonderful spirit live on forever! x

For Big Ray My first ever collaboration on Kompoz and where our friendship began. Ray took me under his wing and guided me through those difficult early days of joining the community. To me this is a perfect example of Ray's genius, his heart wrenching vocal and perfect lyrics where he manages to capture and translate into words perfectly, the mood of the piece just by listening to the music. You will live on through this and all the other wonderful collaborations. Thank you buddy
My favorite with Ray . . . the words I wrote here just cut to my soul right now. I only hope I was nearly as bright of a light to Ray as he was to me here...

I wanted to share this song with recently returned member Rich Brown. He is looking for mix feedback if you have any. I think the mix sounds great, although this feature track is mp3. It’s a cool unique rocking track, with solos by his friend Tim. Enjoy

Another Soundtrack type piece that i am working on. I would love some help please with direction ideas and mixing. All input welcome
One of the latest things I was working on before the pandemic. Hoping to have a very talented vocalist finish it!
Not sure if I posted this on the community pages earlier but here 8s a little idea I had playing around with pads on a couple of Korg Tritons. Sorry about the poor timings. It was recorded in a hurry and I have struggled to recreate it as it was improv and not really planned. Not sure if it's worth working on but this is the type of music create. Thanks for listening
