They're requesting horns on this song. Some short grooves in an old-fashioned R&B style. I'm working on a couple of other songs first. If someone wants to put an arrangement together for this one, I'd be happy to play the trumpet part later.

I'm working on this song called Lost Highway by Openglobe (Kory Burns). It's a groovy rock song. He wrote a horn arrangement, which he posted as a midi. I managed to transform it into a score, which I posted as a pdf file. I really like the horn parts he wrote. There are some short licks and then wham! these long notes come in. Very cool. The key is a bit awkward for horn players, I think it's E major or C# minor. This will often happen when we're playing with guitarists ... Also, the trombone part is a bit low, I think it would be better suited for baritone sax (do we have those on Kompoz?) Kory has asked if we wish to add something to the horn section, embellish it. So ideas are welcome. I'll try to record the trumpet part today or tomorrow. I wonder if other horn players have anything to add.

Hey, I created this group because I like horn sections. Especially those where different instruments play together: trumpet, sax, trombone ... Of course flute, clarinet, French horn, tuba and serpent players are also welcome. Sometimes a horn section requires a bit of coordination. Someone needs to do the arrangement, write out the harmonies, and then different people need to play their parts. That's why I thought having a group like this could be useful.

For example, people can come here "I've been invited to play trumpet on this song, any sax player wants to join me to work on an arrangement together?" Of course, non-horn players can also come "I need a horn section on this song".

The idea is not to create a "fixed" horn section for Kompoz, but something people can drift in and out of, according to their taste.

Let's see if this will work. Keep those horns blowing!
