I've had an Eleven rack for several years when it was bundled with pro tools. DON'T install the "Eleven rack editor" software on windows 10 without additional steps. If installed the Ilock driver will corrupt your computer's boot partition table. The fix is to update the Ilock driver before rebooting your computer the first time. I had to learn the long way... :(

Is that why I can't get my camera memory card readers to read half the time. I can't develop anYthIng! It's a nightmare. Printer always needs to be refound. I wonder if I did the Ilock. Just search for Ilock in the programs?

If you are experiencing corrupt window drivers you can check this link to verify and restore corrupt files in windows 10. Its from Microsoft and I've restored some corrupt files a few times (Triggered by 3rd party apps). Also remove mapped file shares that might no longer exists. They might slow things down. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/using-system-file-checker-in-windows-10-365e0031-36b1-6031-f804-8fd86e0ef4ca

Geez, messing up the boot drive is a nasty thing to happen. This brings back memories of my WinTel days.

Hmmm...seems like a Morlock problem, not an Ilock problem.

Hi James! I installed it on a new system with an old version of ILock embedded in the install. It required a reboot. I had it on an SSD drive but it ended up being totally corrupt. I googled it and found someone with a similar problem and they went through the same process and instead of rebooting, he installed an update to the ilock driver which removed the old version before the reboot. Anyways it was a learning experience and now I have a backup so it never happens again...

James, what is a 'Morlock'. A play on words?

if you have ILok it would be named "Ilok License Manager" under the start menu. This problem only occurs on new system installs. Avid has disabled the download link to this install...

I do have it. Is that the thing with all the licensing key stuff?

Yes it looks like a usb stick. The Ilok licence manager will show you the licences you have from Avid, It isn't needed if you don't use pro tools or any licenced plugins...

So, I never purchased the stick part. I had some licenses to other stuff too, like when I was using a Steinberg interface. I think all that was the absolutely worst way to issue licensing permissions that have ever been created and that stick just added dread to the situation. I've never used the online libraries of Eleven users' hacked plugins bc I can never find my password. I wrote it on some card somewhere and I never found it again. It's all just kind of a huge PITA to me.

The Steinberg dongle is an eLicense. They have a sale on Cubase 11 Pro @ 40% off until August 1st. I crossgraded to Cubase 11 Pro from Studio One for $300 Cdn with no regrets. They seem to be setting new standards that the other DAW manufactures have to catch up to. I'm afraid studio one will eventually turn into a subscription based product with them pushing sphere...

Yup....looks like S1 is moving to a subscription service. :-(

I absolutely hate subscription services. I Have to have Photoshope and Lightroom but I don't want to pay but once for a DAW if at all. Keeping track of all that junk is not my thing.
