Ok... so I have played a lot of strings in my days. I started out with Staggs - Garbage.... I went through GHS, D'Adario, Elixir, Dunlop, some other bullshit brands and for an year now I have been playing Fender Bullets as I play a strat. Right now I am looking at a pack of Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt and it seems like an instant marriage to me. I have to make some mods before I put them on but what do you think?

Been using Ernie Ball for donkey's years. . . . Not tried the Cobalts yet - they are about twice the price if I'm not mistaken . . . . . but regular Ernie's are great in my humble opinion . . . Used Super Slinky (Pink packet) for a long time - now use Extra Slinky (Blue packet) for even longer. Great tone and easy. The Extra Slinky are really light gauge - I know the consensus of opinion is heavy gauge = better tone , but I'd rather play easier with lower action/tension. Great strings. I'm sure you will soon agree . . .

I use different strings depending on the guitar, but mostly Ernie Ball 9's on 6 string, 10's on 7 (tuned down a full step the 10's are great and last forever). On my Oni 8 string, I use Kalium strings - I love those and they are perfect for extended range as they are designed to provide a balanced tension across the neck.

Man from a live player perspective the Ernie Ball Paradigm strings are what I swear by. They very rarely break, much more dependable, they also stay in tune extremely well. I really like these strings a lot, I mean they almost put everything else I've tried to shame. Yes theyre expensive, but your strings last 2 to 3 times as long before a break. The only string I've broken with these is the high E.

I will try them on after these. I wear them down fast believe me. Specialy the lows. Metal Rhythm guitar :)

I use ERNIE BALL custom gauge with locking tuners on a finder stratocaster witch made a world difference keeping the guitar in tune . check out The Secrets of Jimi Hendrix's Guitar Setup: Interview with Roger Mayer . a good read . https://www.guitarworld.com/.../secrets-jimi-hendrixs-guitar-setup-interview-roger-ma... Mar 21, 2017 - The actual strings we used were not what people would expect. The string gauges would run .010, .013, .015, .026, .032 and .038. The big difference there is that you're using the .015 for the third, because if you use the .017 for the third, the actual sound of the guitar is very G-heavy.

Yeah I have seen a signature set by Fender... Hendrix Voodoo Child https://shop.fender.com/en-BG/accessoriesstrings/jimi-hendrix-voodoo-child-electric-guitar-strings/0730150609.html?rl=en_US My last setup was composed of 2 packs. 10 13 17 from a 10s pack and 24 32 42 from a 9s pack... I play a lot of metal and 38 will sound squicky I guess. anyways I will check the links. Thanks!

I put the strings and for now... they are different. Only noticeable thing is I have a tad more control and I achieve it a tad easier. I did a lot of mods to the guitar maybe that is contributing to the feeling. I did a Faraday Cage shielding with aluminum foil to both the cavities and the pickguard. Changed the screws on the bridge pickup so I can add distance from the strings. Less attack now but I use a lot of palm muting so its beneficial. Did some other small stuff like adding graphite to the nut... oiled the fret board. Redid the action which is ridiculously low now and it isn't hurting the sustain all that much. Polished the frets and bunch of other stuff. The guitar is better now. The best things is the noise. Which is GONE. Even at max gain. That shielding method is awesome. I will record some stuff these days and post it here so you can hear the cobalts.

The factory setup on my Stratocaster was to low so I raised the bridge using a gauge a little to take the buzz out of strings and reset the pickups for correct distance and then set the harmonics . it was like the guitar really come alive then . you could hear and Fill the hormonic tone of the guitar . like a Stradivarius guitar . I love my strat .

Cobalts update. After about 10 songs recorded. The strings are fine. Great for recording as they have a greater output. Cobalt resonates better with the pickups. Material sucks. Sliding is hard. Bending not so much but sliding... ehm. Definitely like the tone. Ima go with Paradigms next time.
