This is not an endorsement of Waves. Check your email, the notice came yesterday. These "sales" are long gone. If you have any waves plug-ins, they moved to a subscription model, and also screwed over a lot of their existing customers in the process by not allowing any more updates of their existing licenses(and moving to multiple off-line installers if you dont sign up for the subscription service at $25/month.) As of the writing of this email,on Mar 27, 2023. the website is down. Not a big surprise.
yes I noticed this too a few weeks ago when I moved everything to a new computer... at that point I vowed not to buy any more Waves plugins
thats where the pain point will be noticed. the infamous "Waves UpdatePlan" is no more. More than sucks if you are upgrading your computer and the plugin versions you have dont support your OS. There is no chance of updating them. i paid for updates under the wire before yesterday but the new versions not showing in Waves Central. I dunno.... this is getting ugly. Quite a bit of vitriol already in the forums and social media... quite the backlash to this decision
Screw waves!
it's really too bad... they have some pretty good plugins that at $29 are a good deal. I use their vocal rider all the time. now I have to find a replacement
You can try this ;-) https://www.waproduction.com/plugins/view/vocal-limiter
that looks pretty nice but the vocal rider is a volume automator, not a limiter... it does what otherwise I have to do by hand, increasing and decreasing vocals volume
I do own the bass Rider and vocal rider myself .... it is the only plugin that does it....but you can get closer results with plugins like the one I have showed you .... BTW....your Waves plugins will work up until a new OS is installed on a computer ... You haven't lost it yet ... My Riders have been bought version 14 and work well in Win 11 .... knock on wood ;-)
Furthermore, I use Studio One and there is a clip gain built in .... then I have Melodyne to also regulate the velocity ..... When my Riders will fail, I have already a go-to plan B :) Waves is just a company that makes plugins .... There are equivalents and even better plugins all around .... don't despair :) Find a plan B and create :) This is NOT the end of the world ;-) Life gives you lemons, you make lemonade :)
true! if you come across another good vocal rider let me know... I'm sure there are a bunch of them
fyi I am finding their new "offline installer" goes back and finds that there is a later version of WavesCentral and just updates it to the latest. In prior versions of WavesCentral, if you had an off-line installer it stayed truly offline, I know cause I have had one

They nixed it.....2 options now ..same as before and/or subscription.
it worked
I guess so... that's a pretty fast about face ! Dear Waves community, My name is Meir Shashoua, and I?m the CTO and Co-Founder of Waves Audio. Over the past few days, many of you have expressed concerns about our decision to discontinue perpetual plugin licenses and our move to an exclusive plugin subscription model. I would like to start by apologizing for the frustration we have caused many of you, our loyal customers. We understand that our move was sudden and disruptive, and did not sufficiently take into consideration your needs, wishes, and preferences. We are genuinely sorry for the distress it has caused. After respectfully listening to your concerns, I want to share with you that we are bringing back the perpetual plugin license model, side-by-side with the new subscriptions. You will again be able to get plugins as perpetual licenses, just as before. In addition, those of you who already own perpetual licenses will once again be able to update your plugins and receive a second license via the Waves Update Plan?again, just as before. This option, too, will be available alongside and independently of the subscription program. We are currently putting all our efforts into making perpetual licenses available to you again, as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you can keep up-to-date on this news page: https://www.waves.com/news/perpetual-waves-licenses-are-back where we will post the latest updates on perpetual license availability. I would like you to know that we are committed to you, our users. We listened to your feedback, and we will continue to listen to you. Waves is a company filled with users and creators, just like you, and we are all as passionate about the products as you are. With this in mind, we will strive to find the way to make things right by you, and hopefully regain your trust. Thank you for your feedback and continued support?I wish you all the best, Meir Shashoua CTO and Co-Founder Waves
