Looking for a mix engineer to finally put this wonderful song to its shiniest state I will zip all files and use WeTransfer for the tracks used. There is some lattitude for producing also involved. Please contact me via message on my profile. Thanks in advance!

This is a nice song with a beautiful vocal. Clearly there has been a lot of production time invested. The drums have to be broken apart. Every drummer on Kompoz tries to cut corners and upload a DRUM SEP MIX like it's going to be good enough for the overall mix. Stop it already. Do you know how much time it takes to mix a song? A whole lot longer than it does to dissolve your midi drum part and export each channel as a wave separately. How I do it anyway. Guitars have 6 individual tracks for a reason. The point is, try. Each drum VST has a different way it creates it's kit. Isolated overhead cymbal mix is fine but don't have the toms owning the overheads. I had to vent. Nice song.

Tony, the primary reason some of the long-time drummers here upload a processed drum stem is because 99% of the people on here can't mix anything, let alone a full, acoustic drum kit (not counting electronic/vst stuff). :)

I hear ya. That's cool for a demo and to get the project moving quickly, but when the song takes on a life of it's own and turns out having potential...then they should come back and do the uploads. Seems fair.

I just dealt with this. Drums were kinda broken apart but the overheads had toms blasting in them. You know how much extra work it was to try and get rid of the toms so that the crashes sat appropriately in the mix? So much extra. And they didn't even sound good after. Solo cymbals...export wave...not that hard people!

It seems like an unwritten rule of mixing that the first skill you need to develop is how to polish shit. :D What helped me was that everything I was writing, recording, and using was shit, so every mix I started with was pure shit. Hasn't changed much, either. :D

Polish till it shines. If it jams and the artist is cool with it then you can walk away. I just don't think artist know how much they hinder their own sound and potential by their recording/lack of recording. Not everything was meant for radio but it's also not meant for a professional mix. The best you ever get cutting corners is a cassette demo for your potential bar gig on Monday Night. The good old days of the 4-Track cassette recorder....sigh.
