DSK has some real nice vst's -albeit "older" sounding but FREE. https://www.dskmusic.com/category/free-virtual-instruments/ I used the "Indian Dreamz" for the Tabla and Sitar on this song...."Transcender" https://www.kompoz.com/music/collaboration/77464/file/786994

Anyone else have trouble with MXXX (MeldaProduction)? I downloaded a free version from somewhere. Worked fine for a while, but now it's making stuff act up -- vocals just randomly stop & re-start on playback. & Tracks randomly start making noise when I'm NOT playing anything. Very weird. Not sure what to do about it. I'm using Reaper, if that makes any difference.

Oh, and for all the newest members here, check out the gallery. Lots of great videos there showcasing many different VI's and plugins.

Looks like we've had a few new folks join our little group lately. So welcome all! Please jump in and share about the VI's and plugs you use to make your tracks. We're always glad to hear from you! And if haven't yet, go to the Polls section and take our poll on what DAW you most use to create your tracks.

I was introduced to the "world" of MIDI several years back by a brilliant muso friend who put together backing tracks for theatre use. I was too involved with trying to improve my own accoustic music with guitar and vox to jump in to this technique of music creation. 10 years later, I now am loving the experience of what MIDI and Virtual Instruments can create! In particular, I am slanting toward orchestral composition. Rather a big challenge, but with plugins and sampling available at little cost (alot are indeed free), the sky is the limit! Through exploring the MIDI topic, I came across a BBC piece about Daphne Oram's 1960's Optical Synthesizer Oramics Machine This machine was certainly the start of the VI technology that has develloped to where it is today. She was ahead of her time. If you want to explore this method more, a modern "Oramics" machine is now available as an App! BBC Utube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ08diPUv6A

What are the good free drum sequencers around these days? I'm guilty of using HammerHead for the last 20 years and that's probably odd.

Hi all I discovered guitar impulses the other day and I am blown away by the tones that you can get from wav recordings of live cabinets. I have been using guitar rig as my main plugin but now I'm going all in with the free plugins from Le Pou http://lepouplugins.blogspot.co.uk At the moment I'm going guitar>interface>Hybrit and LeCab plugins and the tones are great. These guitar impulses really open up a lot of possibilities for creating great tones. If you are after some great sounding guitars from dry seps, then give these plugins a try. Thanks Ian
