Hello Everyone, I have a song that needs a female singer to do some counterpoint singing to what the main singer is doing. It will require layering vocals on top of the main singer at different parts of the song starting at about 1:03 of the song. There are a lot of opportunities for doing some freestyle improv singing. The story behind the song is this: It is about a guy that goes into a bar for just a quick drink, but ends up mesmerized by the singer in the band that is playing and he ends up staying the whole evening, sure that she will be a star someday. The female vocalist will play off his phrases and will be singing things like ?Streets so mean ... , Ticket out .., What she said ..., Oh baby, baby...., Set me free... and other phrases that can be improvised to fit the spirit and rhythm of the song. Some guidelines for the female lyrics are highlighted in the V2 lyric sheet under files, but the idea is to freestyle a bit to layer the vocals in between and along with his lines to provide harmony and an R&B groove. This is derived from a track originally done over six years ago by XTerra Bill. It's a remake of his great song with great contributions from Mike Lucas, Andy Gupta, Alyo, and BuckM. The original has examples of synthesized background vocals but we want to do it with a real female singer singing more significant lines. This is the original version by XTerra Bill: https://www.kompoz.com/music/collaboration/1067523/file/1067524

Just so you know, you don't have to ask - you can just jump right in. :) No - I'm not stalking you, just happened to see this in the community activity stream, lol.

lol. It was sort of a joke as I'd posted on your vocal group post earlier. So yes - the model here is to find something you like and basically audition for the project. You want ot create the most complete version of your idea that you can. The project owner will let you know if there's a match as far as vision, etc. goes. You can also post on the project saying you want to work on it and ask if there's any direction from the proj owner. Or PM them. N.B.: there is no guarantee that your idea will be accepted - this is hard for some folks to get used to. This is why I suggest making your audition as complete as you can. I know that for vocalists and drummers this can be an effort. Both talents require a lot of work and effort to produce what is in the end an audition. Anyone here who is worth working with will understand this and be sensitive to the effort and try and work with you if things look good, but aren't quite there. But you do want to accept that sometimes it doesn't work out and not be dissapointed. YMMV
