The attempt (using Loops) is a bit amateurish from my end. But I'm figuring it out
Don't sweat it. Getting your ideas out should be the main focus. I promote using whatever tools you have available:) (As long as you have permissions to do so of course.
My first exposure to using a DAW to compose songs was in 2009. I didn't know a damn thing. I had a friend who had a decade head start on me that helped me get started, but most of what I have learned has been self-taught. I used loops a lot in the beginning. Not very competently, but I used them, to create drums tracks, mostly. But I played around with synths, making horn tracks, simple keyboard tracks, etc., as well. I never produced much worth listening to, but all of that mucking around with loops helped me learn a lot about basic manipulation of clips, loops, how to record well, how to mix and balance different pieces from different sources... all kinds of basic things that I still use today. And I still use loops occasionally for all kinds of things... mostly ambient, background-type stuff, but also I buy harmony tracks and other things in clip form and composite them into songs. These are not the worst loop-based tracks I've heard, by any means.
