Lyrics

Serpents

Verse 1:

Her hair reached down to her waist

She?d grown eyes just like a snake

A crack of darkness for the pupil in her eye

One hand was curled and black as a crow

From the time she was bitten for the debt that she owed.

Chorus:

She takes out her serpents to pray

Her Prince of Diamonds her Queen of Red Rust

They talk to her in whispers and tell her what to do

They have judgement in them and they have love

Verse2:

?So Judge Me? she said to the snakes

She said ?take me I?ve found my belief?

The serpents were listening and the Copperhead struck

Sand rushed through the hourglass on its back

She felt the poison flow through her and the sickness boil up

Chorus

Verse3:

Her heart went black and rock hard

It stopped once then started again

When the life flowed back in her she knew that she was strong

The knowledge rang true in her soul

She knew she was the poison and she knew she was the power

Instrumental Chorus

Chorus 2:

She takes out her serpents to pray

Her Prince of Diamonds her Queen of Red Rust

She bowed to them in freedom and thanked them for her life

They have judgement in them and they have love

They have judgement in them and they have love
