Artist's Notes

It's been a long time since I wrote a full song but having been upset at the state of the world, this year, I felt the need to say something!

Summer Rain                      James Fraser (August 2018) ©

The heat of this summer has been too much

Parching the crops and the land

The kine are now eating their winter reserves

Diminishing what was in hand.

Wild fires are raging in many a place

With nothing to make them burn out

The ponds and the streams are all running scarce

And reservoirs turning to drought

What are we doing to our lands

Pollution that is just insane

It?s too late now to know what we need

But, for now, some sweet summer rain.

The drought kills the plantlife and in turn the bugs

The birds get no insects and seeds

Our balance of nature is right on the brink

Of disaster because of man?s deeds.

What are we doing to our lands

Pollution that is just insane

It?s too late now to know what we need

But, for now, some sweet summer rain.
