Lyrics

Somewhere Out That Door

5 o'clock in the morning

She gets up

Puts a note on the dresser

By his coffee cup

Then she kisses him goodbye

And before she starts to cry

She walks away

6 o'clock in the morning

He gets up

Finds the note that she left him

By his coffee cup

As he reads the first few lines

Of the message

He starts to cry

Said "I can't stay here anymore

When the rest of my life

Is out that door'

Said she loved him

But she could not stay his wife

All she wanted

Was a chance to live her life

She thought she'd lost her dreams

But now she said it seems

They're back again

Said she's sorry

That it had to end this way

Tried to tell him

But he had no words to say

She hoped he'd understand

That it wasn't that she'd planned

To run away

But she could not stay there anymore

When the rest of her life

Was out that door

8 o'clock in the morning

A Taxi stands

She steps out on the platform

Her bags in hand

Don't know where she's going

Not to where she's been

All she knows

It's somewhere else

That she hasn't seen

Train pulls into the station

And she gets on

She takes a look In a mirror

The tears are gone

Then she rests her head and sighs

As the people pass her by

She can't stay there anymore

When the rest of her life

Is out that door
